NOTES

1. This is a closed event meaning that only Connecticut Division members may enter. They are listed on the schedule in red.

2. For details or entry forms, contact Tom Ciccarone or NSG Headquarters at (860)-528-4588. The Nutmeg State Games is a USFA competition. It uses all current USFA rules and timing perameters. Higher ratings may be earned. It is open to all  USFA members.  USFA MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. You may join the USFA at the door.  Tournament is posted on askfred.  Registration is done on the NSG Site or on askfred.

3. The Neil Lazar IRONMAN Three Weapon Team Relay Challenge will be fenced by teams consisting of 3 fencers; one in each weapon. The bouts will be fenced in round robin format to a total of 15 touches. There is no substitution proviso, no gender restriction and the order of bouts will be fenced by lottery. The first 6 teams receive a free IRONMAN T shirt. Pre registration is suggested.

4. All National and Sectional events are open registration in the categories of Youth 12, 10 and Veteran. Any teams seriously considering fencing in the Summer Nationals; should contact Tom Ciccarone no later than 1 week prior to the qualifier date and inform him of your intent to field a team. He will tell you if there are more that 2 teams and if you need to participate.

5. Weapon repair clinics are for a specific weapon.  They cover basic construction and trouble shooting. Bring any broken weapons. Parts may be purchased to construct your own. Fee is $10 for this clinic.

6. The Harvey Kerner Memorial Sabre Open is a cash prize tournament with custom trophies and awards to 8 places. $200.00 first, $100.00 second, $50.00 third for both men and women providing that there are at least 6 participants in each tournament. If there are less than 6 in either tournament, they will be mixed. Gift certificates will be given to anyone with NCAA concerns. There are no cash awards for the Y12 events.

7. Send all pre-registrations to: CT DIV USFA, c/o Candlewood Fencing Center, 272 White Street, Danbury, CT 06810. Make checks payable to: CT DIV USFA. There will be a 25.00 dollar charge for all returned checks. Please include contact information containing name, address, phone, events entered and E-mail. Entry fee must accompany registration. Use a separate form for each individual event.

8. Custom trophies, (first place replete with Lava-Lite), medals and awards to 8 places. 

9. Any one who is a full time resident or a High School student in Connecticut may participate in the Connecticut High School Championship. You must me on an approved CHSFA team to participate in the team championship. Please let Tom Ciccarone know of your intention to fence as soon as possible. The deadline for entries is Feb 22. The teams are qualified in the individual event on Mar 1. 

10. The first prize in the Ralph Goldstein is a katana reproduction for both men and women. Second place is a Mid sword and third place is a short sword. Custom medals and awards 1-8 places. Events will be separate unless there are fewer than 6 individuals in a tournament, in which case they will be combined.

11. The Parents and Fencers meetings are to involve and update parents and fencers in the sport of fencing. Schedule and rule changes will be covered as well as questions answered on all topics. The agenda for both meetings is the same; the content may differ due to the nature of questions asked. I urge everyone to attend at least 1 of the meetings. This meeting is open to anyone. 

12. CT events are open to all fencers unless otherwise stated. All fencers must conform to all USFA rules and regulations. You must have 2 working weapons, 2 body and head cords, under arm protector, knickers, competition mask etc. Fencers in the Y10 category must use "0, 1 or 2" length blades. You must present a valid USFA membership card or a signed receipt or you will have to join the USFA (no exceptions). Bring exact change or checks. Times listed are the close of registration. Fencers may participate in more than one event simultaneously. All entries must be mailed in; no fax, over night or email. No mail will be signed for. You may enter at the door unless otherwise stated. There will be a refundable $5.00 check-in fee at the door. Fencers must stay 1 round to assist-cleanup, time, score, referee, bout table etc.

13. Are you an Ol' geezer, a coot, a curmudgeon, a fossil or even a codger? Come to the Ol' Geezers Melee, (aka The Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth Melee). We have a special time planned for you. The genders will be separated if there are enough participants. Age category is 40 and older. Close of registration is time listed. There will be no exceptions.

14. Please check the web site at: candlewoodfencing.com before attending all tournaments to be advised of changes or weather postponements. They will be at the top of the CT DIV Schedule page. No scheduling changes will be made 1 week prior to the tournament date except for weather cancellations.

15. This referee clinic will taught by Bruce Gillman.  There is a $50 fee to attend this clinic.  There is a $10 fee to take the test which is given after the clinic. The clinic starts at 10am and runs until about 4pm.  Please be prompt.

16. The First 10 pre-registered entries each day in The Great Pumpkins Day Massacre and the Little Kids Halloween Boogie will will receive a free scary T shirt. Pre Registration is suggested. (use click entry form) Custom trophies, medals and awards to 8 places.

17. The Pirates Picnic is a tournament hosted by Fishkill Fencing Club and Candlewood Fencing Center. The venue is the outdoor pavilion at Hatters Park near Candlewood Lake in Danbury, CT. The entry fee is $30 and includes picnic fare which will be served around 2pm. Extra picnic-ers can attend for a pre-registered fee on www.askfred.net by using the Mixed picnic only foil event A fee of $10 for adults and $8 for under 12 year-olds and under. Feel free to bring a dessert for the dessert table. Registration at the door is $35 for the entry and $15 for adults and $13 for 12 year-olds and under. Awards: Pirate cutlasses (first place), Pirate pocket watches (second place), and pirate belt buckles 4 place, medals 5-8)  will be given out to the top eight in addition to custom medals. 

18. Any team that wants to fence in the Division 1 Team Qualifier on Feb 24, 2008 must comply with all USFA regulations and criteria and inform Tom Ciccarone of their intent to field a team by Feb 17, 2010. Tom will tell you if you need to fence or not. To qualify for the Summer nationals on April 6 you must notify Tom before march 28 and tom will tell you if there are more than 2 teams and you will need to qualify. 20.To enter this novice tournament, you must be unrated, you must be in your first calender year of fencing and this must be your first tournament. Full USFA membership and regulation gear is required.
